In the WP Racks plugin, blocked bins are specific storage locations in your warehouse that are restricted from being used for storing pallets or products. These bins may be blocked for various reasons such as the presence of fire hydrants, forklift pathways, or other obstructions. Managing blocked bins helps ensure safety and efficient warehouse operations by preventing these areas from being utilized inappropriately.
Adding Blocked Bins #
Blocked bins are added using a specific format that includes the rack number, level number, and bin number. Here’s how to add blocked bins:
- Enter the Blocked Bin Identifiers: In the “Blocked Bins” section, type the identifiers for the bins you want to block. Each identifier should follow the format
Rack-Level-Bin
(e.g.,1-1-1
for rack 1, level 1, bin 1). - List Multiple Bins: You can list multiple blocked bins by entering each identifier on a new line.
- Save Changes: After entering the blocked bin identifiers, save your changes to update the blocked bins list.
Example Configuration #
Here is an example configuration showing blocked bins in the WP Racks plugin:
In this example, the following bins are blocked:
- 1-1-1: Rack 1, Level 1, Bin 1
- 1-2-1: Rack 1, Level 2, Bin 1
- 1-3-1: Rack 1, Level 3, Bin 1
- 1-4-1: Rack 1, Level 4, Bin 1
- 1-1-2: Rack 1, Level 1, Bin 2
- and so on…
Reasons for Blocking Bins #
Blocked bins are used to mark areas that should not be used for storage due to various reasons, including:
- Fire Hydrants: Bins that are located where fire hydrants are present.
- No Storage Space: Bins that do not have space for pallets or products.
- Forklift Pathways: Bins that are located in areas where forklifts drive or operate.
